About Capitol Foot & Ankle
Dr. Melissa Smith is a native Washingtonian and obtained her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Maryland at College Park. She then attended Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia and graduated with honors. She continued on to an intensive surgical residency at St. Agnes Medical Center in Philadelphia. Dr. Smith has been practicing in Alexandria, Virginia since 2003. She is a Fellow of the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons and a Fellow of The American Board of Podiatric Surgery. Dr. Smith is Board Certified, in Foot Surgery, by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. She is also an active staff member at INOVA Alexandria Hospital. Her extensive training and experience has focused on both invasive and non-invasive treatment for sports injuries, wound care, and overall treatment of the foot and ankle.
